The Sarah Lawrence College Library invites applications for a Research and Instruction Librarian. Reporting to the Head of Research Services, the candidate must have a strong commitment to public service and act as a highly motivated research support and education professional who enjoys providing both personalized and group library instruction to undergraduate and graduate students in a small academic library.
Working within the Research Services Department, the candidate will participate in the reference and instruction programs we provide for students and faculty. These programs include, but are not limited to: provision of in-depth research help during individual research consultations; provision of information literacy instruction to classes and groups; tailored workshops as needed; creation of research guides and instructional materials utilizing current technologies; provision of general public reference assistance at the Information Desk; and participation in our Yonkers community partnership program.

Adjunct Librarian : (Valhalla, NY) at SUNY Westchester Community College

Job Description:
The Adjunct Librarian will provide in person and virtual reference services including in-depth one-on-one research consultations. They will participate in teaching information literacy classes or other workshops on the main campus and at the college’s extension sites, including virtually and asynchronously. They will create and maintain research tools such as library guides, instructional videos and/or presentations. They will assist in collection development or other special projects as needed. This position is primarily weekdays, up to 25 hrs/wk during the Fall and Spring semesters, with occasional weekends. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited degree-granting program and at least one year of experience working as an academic librarian is required. Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies, practices that enhance student success at community colleges, including effective use of technology. Demonstrated ability to communicate well with students of diverse academic, ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. The incumbent must have the ability to collaborate and communicate with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community users. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated skill with current library and educational technologies, and experience with software and hardware used in academic libraries such as BrightSpace(D2L), ALMA/Primo and Springshare. An interest in emerging technologies and developing trends in libraries. Academic library instructional experience along with the ability to collaborate with classroom faculty to integrate appropriate information literacy competencies, concepts and skills into library instruction sessions, assignments and course content strongly preferred.

Herman Prins Salomon Research Fellowship at Yeshiva University

Yeshiva University Libraries have created a new fellowship, named for the late Herman Prins Salomon, for the 2024-2025 academic year in conjunction with the donation of his personal library, which includes rare books and a focus on the Western Sephardi Amsterdam Jewish community. Professor Salomon, a polyglot and researcher of the Jewish communities of Amsterdam and other Spanish-Portuguese communities, taught in the Department of Languages, Literature and Cultures at the University at Albany, State University of New York, for over forty years. He also served as co-editor of the Yeshiva University publication American Sephardi. The Herman Prins Salomon Fellowship will allow for deep exploration of the Western Sephardi community and its successor communities by inviting scholars to employ Professor Salomon’s rich collection along with the Yeshiva University Libraries’ world renowned Hebraica-Judaica materials and rare books for a period of four to six weeks. Library Instructor at Queens College

The Queens College Library (QCL) seeks adjuncts to teach the 2-credit (30 contact hours) course LIBR 110: Information in the Digital Age in the Fall 2024 semester. Successful candidates may be offered the opportunity to teach up to two sections. The course is a long-standing collaboration between QCL and the Percy E. Sutton Search for Education, Elevation and Knowledge (SEEK) Program, and is offered exclusively to students enrolled in the SEEK Program.
About LIBR 110: Information in the Digital Age
Students are challenged to think critically about information: where it comes from, how one finds it, how it's used in the world, and what one can create with it. Students learn how to find and use (and cite) relevant sources. Additionally, students examine how information resources are structured, identify and critique the markers of authority, and reflect on and improve their own research practices. The curriculum for this course is set by QCL, although instructors have some flexibility in shaping their syllabi. Instructors are supported by the Instructional Design Librarian and Teaching & Learning Committee.
About the SEEK Program
Since 1966, the SEEK program has provided access to college for equity-deserving students whose high schools may not have prepared them for the rigors of college, but who demonstrate great academic promise and potential to succeed. With a population of over 1,000 students, SEEK is the largest and most diverse cohort-based program at CUNY. Students receive holistic support from admission to graduation, from a dedicated team of professionals. This model allows students to meet and often exceed the academic performance and retention numbers of their campus peers.
Schedule
A course meets once per week for 115min. Sections are offered on: Wednesdays 10:05am-12:00pm, or 1:30-3:25pm, or 3:55-6:00pm, and on Thursdays 1:30-3:25pm. Classes run from 08/28/2024 until 12/21/2024 with final grades required by 12/27/2024.
Location
LIBR 110 is delivered in the hybrid synchronous instructional model, meaning that the instructor will have a mix of in-person and online sessions.
Qualifications
Master's in Library Science (MLS), Master’s in Library Information Studies (MLIS), or closely related discipline from an ALA-accredited program. A second Graduate degree is required for appointment at the adjunct assistant professor level. Also required is the ability to work with others for the good of the institution.
Strong understanding of the needs of students from underserved communities.
Experience with a wide range of library resources and research strategies.
Instruction experience such as credit courses, workshops, public programs, museum education, etc.

Digital Projects Specialist at YIVO Institute for Jewish Research

The YIVO Institute for Jewish Research seeks a full-time digital projects specialist to join its Digital Lab. The Digital Lab ensures the long-term accessibility and preservation of YIVO library and archive materials. The Lab primarily works on digitization and post-digitization phases of archival projects, ingesting upwards of half a million digital objects into their DAMS each year. The Lab also supports digital projects across the entire organization.
Reporting to the Digital Lab Manager, the Digital Projects Specialist works on all digitization and ingest phases of projects. This is an on-site position.
Responsibilities include:
Digital capture of library and archival materials according to current digital preservation standards.
Perform postproduction on digital objects, including adding metadata and filenames
Perform quality assurance on digitized materials
Ingest digitized materials into DAMS system
Track and report digitization progress on shared Google spreadsheets
Keep current with trends and developments in the field of digital preservation.
Basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).

Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree and at least three years of progressively responsible experience in electronic resource management or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and expertise
Demonstrated experience in managing and using an electronic resource book system
Demonstrated ability to track, analyze, and report data
Demonstrated time management, task prioritization, and organizational skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills

SUNY Old Westbury welcomes applications for the position of Interlibrary Loan Librarian.
The Interlibrary Loan Librarian is responsible for the daily Interlibrary Loan (ILL) operations including setting policies and procedures. The Librarian supervises, trains, and evaluates Interlibrary Loan staff and student assistants; provides reference services in-person and online; teaches information literacy sessions; produces web-based research guides; reviews resource sharing policies and makes recommendations to the Director/Dean; keeps current with relevant technologies and methods; and prepares monthly reports as requested.
This is a 12-month, full-time, tenure-track position. The Librarian engages in college service and maintains professional development through continuing education and professional organizations. Other duties may be assigned, and some evening and weekend are required. The successful candidate will be cooperative and confident, customer-centered, and eager to engage with the changing services and methods of libraries.

Description:
The Pratt Institute Libraries are seeking an innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented leader to serve as the Virginia Thoren Archivist, responsible for collecting, preserving, curating, and disseminating materials related to the history of Pratt Institute. The Archives preserve and contextualize the institutional history of Pratt Institute through its growing body of collections, which include, but are not limited to: the administrative records and publications of the Institute's departments, schools, and programs; select papers of Pratt faculty, alumni, and members of the Pratt family who were active at the Institute; and photographs and audiovisual materials documenting the activities of the Institute.
The individual assuming this position will be expected to play an instrumental role in continuing to develop the vision of the Archives by exploring innovative ways to describe and provide access to collections; collaborating with faculty and students to engage with and create outreach opportunities for the collections; bringing in new collections that fill gaps in the institutional record; expanding the current archives program to include diverse voices and experiences; putting in place robust procedures around ingesting and preserving born-digital records; and collaborating with staff members across the Libraries to re-envision the physical and virtual spaces in which Special Collections and Archives are stored, accessed, and exhibited. Persons with experience and scholarship directly related to helping Pratt achieve the goals outlined in the Institute's Diversity Strategic Plan are encouraged to apply.
This is a hybrid position that allows for up to 1 day of remote work per week.
Position Duties:
Collection Management and Development
• Develop and maintain written policies around acquisition, processing, description, and access of institutional records in all formats, and collaborate with departments across campus to ensure that relevant materials are deposited in the Institute's Archive.
• In partnership with academic and administrative units across the campus, seek alumni, faculty, and organizational collections that help to put the history of Pratt Institute in a broader context, including its relationship to its surrounding neighborhood and community.
Access and Discovery
• Participate in and oversee the accessioning, arranging, and description of newly transferred and acquired records and papers in analog and digital formats into ArchivesSpace, following agreed upon workflows, metadata standards, priorities and levels of processing.
Teaching, Outreach, and Reference Services
• Promote the use of primary source materials as teaching and research tools, and partner with Library and Institute Faculty to incorporate these materials into the curriculum through the development of assignments and instruction programs, including occasionally playing the role of an embedded archivist in specific courses.
• Provide public assistance and respond to reference queries for researchers coming from inside and outside the Institute.
Other
• Manage a full-time Project Archivist, and play a mentoring role in the supervision of Graduate Assistants pursuing related degrees in the School of Information.
• Participate in Institute- and Library-wide committees, as well as search committees as needed.
Qualifications:
• Minimum four years experience working directly with appraising and processing archival collections, and demonstrated application and knowledge of such best practices and standards as EAD and DACs in the creation of finding aids, and basic preservation for archival and manuscript collections.
• Knowledge of best practices and current trends related to archives reference and outreach, as well as accessioning born-digital materials.
• Strong organizational and project management skills and the ability to set and modify work priorities independently with a high degree of initiative.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and able to work in a highly collaborative environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication, including public speaking and scholarly communications.
• Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.
• Knowledge of principles of diversity and inclusion; ability to work well with diverse populations; and demonstrated level of cultural competence.
• Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 40 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in an academic institution or university archive.
• Teaching experience.
• Significant experience working with ArchivesSpace.
• Demonstrated experience ingesting and processing born-digital records.
• Significant experience managing full-time staff and/or student employees or interns.
• Record of publication or other relevant contributions to the profession.
• Experience writing grants or participating in the administration of existing grants.
• Knowledge of records management best practices.
Education
• ALA accredited Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent graduate degree in archives administration from an accredited college/university, or a combination of a relevant, accredited graduate degree in another scholarly field (e.g., history) from an accredited college/university and significant archival experience.
Salary, Benefits, and Faculty Support:
