The User Experience and Emerging Technologies (UXET) Librarian identifies, implements, and assesses current and emerging technologies for the delivery of optimal, user-focused library services. The UXET Librarian is responsible for improving the usability of the Library’s web site, including tools for discovery, virtual reference, social networking, mobile services, and instructional technologies. The UXET Librarian plans staff and faculty development opportunities in order to build technology awareness and broadly supports the adoption of technologies that improve the user experience. The UXET Librarian has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrates the ability to interact with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff. As a member of the Reference and Instruction unit, this librarian participates in a broad range of reference, instructional services, and collection development responsibilities. The User Experience and Emerging Technologies Librarian's duties include:
Exploring emerging technological trends to improve the physical and virtual presence of the Library and making recommendations for adoption of appropriate technologies.
Building awareness and acceptance of implemented technologies.
Assessing the impact of technology-based services on Library users, including collecting and reporting usage statistics and other user input and data.
Evaluating and updating the Library’s website in conjunction with Reference colleagues and Academic IT.
Developing, updating, and maintaining the Library Libguides and social media presence.
Coordinating and implementing efforts to embed library resources and services in the college CMS (Blackboard).
Creating online tutorials, learning objects, widgets, apps and other products for the Library using emerging technologies to support information literacy.
Consulting on instructional design and occasional technical support for campus OER projects.
Serving as subject liaison for assigned academic departments including subject-specific reference and instruction, subject guides, and collection development for those disciplines.

The Morgan Library & Museum invites applications for the Shelby White & Leon Levy Fellowship in Manuscript Cataloging. The Fellowship is intended for new professionals who have demonstrated engagement with general cataloging and archival processing and wish to enhance their skills through intensive specialized training. This is a unique opportunity for early-career professionals to receive training and mentoring as members of the Morgan Library & Museum curatorial and cataloging staff.
Starting in February 2023, the Fellowship will consist of 650 hours, and applicants will have a choice between full-time (35 hours per week) or part-time (21 hours per week) work in order to complete the 650 hours. Fellows will be assigned to work on specific groups of 19th- or 20th-century correspondence. They will be expected to research the historical and cultural context in which the letters and documents were produced, create collection and item level records in CORSAIR—the Morgan's collections database—according to DCRM(MSS), assign accession numbers, and attend to the rehousing and conservation needs of the material. Considerations will be given to applicants’ areas of experience or expertise, such as specific language skills or subject specialization in art, literature, history, film, history of science, etc.
This opportunity is the second in a series of Manuscript Cataloging Fellowships that are offered by the Morgan every September and February from September 2022 to February 2025. The Morgan Library & Museum is grateful to the Leon Levy Foundation for their generous support of these special opportunities.
The position reports to the Manager of Collections Information and Library Systems, and works closely with curators in the Department of Literary and Historical Manuscripts.
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution or substantial course work towards the degree; a degree (or substantial course work toward one) in related areas, such as art, literature, history, film, or history of science, with specialization in working with original historical documents, will also be considered;
Experience with reading handwritten documents preferred;
Experience with archival processing preferred;
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
Knowledge of additional European languages preferred;
Knowledge of standard library cataloging tools, such as MARC21, RDA, DCRM, LCSH and other standard vocabularies preferred;

The Library Access Services Project Specialist is responsible for the maintenance of the Library’s physical collection. Under the supervision of the Director of Collections Strategy and Library Operations, this position coordinates, oversees, and implements varied collection maintenance projects from inventorying the collection to weeding it, and more. Additionally, the Specialist ensures that issues related to the physical spaces in the library are addressed. In doing so this critical role ensures access to our spaces and our resources. The Project Specialist may also cover breaks and select shifts at the Circulation and Help Desk. This position reports to the Director of Collection Strategy and Library Operations and is part of the Library Access Team at Barnard Library and Academic Information Services. Practice excellence in customer service across the organization and with users. Internal and external customer service work includes: contributing to user-focused accessibility of the Barnard Library, and collaborating with the Student Engagement and Access Services Librarian to consider the impact of daily work on and evolve practices to affirm staff and users of historically underserved identities.
Contribute to Operations Team projects, including serving as backup for Library Operations Team workflows and training Library Operations Team members to prepare them to serve as backup for collection maintenance and digitization.

Responsibilities: The Library Director has overall responsibility for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of all Library operations and works successfully with staff, Board, governmental officials, and community stakeholders. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include a Master’s in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program, the ability to obtain or already hold a Michigan Librarian’s Permanent Certificate (requires four (4) years of full-time employment or an equivalent time period of paid professional library work following the completion of the MLS degree), and five (5) years professional library experience at a management level. Prior Library Director experience reporting to a governing Board in a multi-branch environment and experience working with collective bargaining units are also desirable. Digital Cicognara Library Project (DCL) Metadata Specialist at Princeton University/ Grant contract position

The Digital Cicognara Library Project invites applications for a part-time Project Metadata Specialist funded by a grant from The Samuel H. Kress Foundation, sponsored by Princeton University. This remote contractor position serves a term of 60 weeks (March 2023-May 2024) with funding for 30 hours per week, with a salary of $35 per/hour without benefits.
The Digital Cicognara Library is an international initiative to recreate in open access digital form the remarkable private book collection of Count Leopoldo Cicognara (1767–1834). Built by contributing partners, the site presents the full text of Ciccognara’s 1821 published inventory integrated with digital images and full text of every title in the corpus, including black-and-white facsimiles of the original volumes in the Vatican, and one or more high-resolution color facsimiles of unique copies from partner libraries, with thorough bibliographic information. Reporting to the Project Director of the Digital Cicognara Library (DCL) Project and Assistant Director of Princeton University Library IT, the DCL Metadata & Cataloging Specialist performs digital project implementation with the goals of completing all aspects of microfiche digitization and managing preparation and submission of metadata for digital surrogates provided by partner libraries.
Responsibilities: The incumbent will:
● In conjunction with digital project specialists at Princeton University Library and the National Gallery of Art Library, Washington DC, aid in transitioning metadata to a new sustainable platform, create and document sustainable workflows for ingesting metadata for project partners’ contributions, and verifying bibliographic and metadata content.
● Provide Princeton IT staff with information relevant to metadata for Cicognara microfiche and partner IIIF manifest presentation on the DCL web site; and provide National Gallery of Art, Washington staff with updated bibliographic information and metadata for the Vatican Library copies on microfiche. Assist with updating digitized microfiche MARC Records.
● In conjunction with DCL Project staff, coordinate information from the DCL project’s Excel Master File, to add Digital Cicognara Library (DCL) numbers and Catalogo citation to OCLC (WorldCat) master records for the print and for digitized versions. This includes adding the relevant Cicognara values in MARC fields 024 & 510; adding other bibliographic information when needed, and ensuring quality control of metadata.
● Establish import procedures for WorldCat libraries to add revised OCLC records into the local systems and coordinate with catalogers at partner institutions as necessary to verify copy-specific descriptive information.
● Collaborate with catalogers at partner institutions as necessary to resolve questions on local copies (e.g., adding local collection information) and advise potential and new contributors on Getty Research Portal submission procedures and standards.
Qualifications and experience:
Reading knowledge of at least one European language including Italian, German, French, and Latin
A Bachelor's or preferably advanced degree in art history or related humanities subjects.

Summary: Montclair State University seeks a creative and collaborative leader to serve as Associate Dean for Collections & Discovery at the Harry A. Sprague Library. Reporting to the Dean of Library Services, and serving on the administrative team consisting of the Dean, Associate Dean for Research, Teaching & Engagement and the Associate Dean for Collections & Discovery, the Associate Dean for Collections & Discovery shapes all aspects of collections and discovery for Sprague Library.
While each Associate Dean position has an individual area of responsibility, both support holistic library-wide approaches to strategic planning and communication and an environment of innovation and collaboration. The Associate Dean assists with all aspects of library management and planning. Associate Deans are expected to lead by promoting teamwork, diversity, and inclusiveness within the Library and the campus. In addition, the Associate Deans serve as the Library's representative and advocate to relevant university, consortia, and multi-institutional groups. The Associate Dean serves as an ambassador and advocates for the Library with University constituencies, and with state, regional, and national organizations. The Associate Dean leads a team of librarians, professionals, and support staff to develop, assess, improve and promote user-focused resources and services to the university community. The division is tasked with all aspects of collections management, as well as maintaining access to, and security of the physical library. The library is revising its content strategy, balancing questions of access versus ownership, and seeks to re-imagine the collections to serve the University community best. The successful candidate will have experience in navigating a changing environment, motivating and leading teams. cultivating partnerships, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Project Archivist at The Library of The Jewish Theological Seminary

The Library of The Jewish Theological Seminary is seeking a full-time project archivist to process and create metadata for 1,750 digitized audio-visual recordings from its’ institutional archives pertaining to the American Jewish experience, 1941-1999. This is a one-year grant-funded project.
Description of the Position:
Upload digital files and create descriptive metadata for 1,750 digital recordings and films in mp4 and wav format utilizing the MODS metadata schema. Create EAD, DACS compliant finding aids to make the Library’s collection of audio and visual materials discoverable.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Responsible for creating descriptive metadata for each of the 1,750 recordings in mp4 or wav format and create an EAD, DACS compliant finding aids for two collections, with multiple series for one, larger collection. Link the digital assets to finding aids. Meeting local and nation standards to ingest metadata in MODS format. Supplement the embedded technical and administrative metadata created by the digitization vendor and enter it into the Library’s DAMS (Islandora). Troubleshooting and seeking solutions with bibliographic control, controlled vocabulary, and database issues. Create a finding aid in ArchivesSpace and bibligraphic record in Alma. The Project Archivist serves as an integral part of the archival team as well as the digital library teams.
Minimum Requirements:
ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS degree with an archival certificate as well as proficiency in Jewish studies or equivalent desirable. Familiarity in current archival processing standards (EAD, DACS) and Library cataloging standards and practices (RDA, LCSH, MARC21, MODS). Demonstrated experience creating complex finding aids as well as original cataloging. Ability to work creatively, and effectively in a team environment and independently. Excellent organizational and time-management skills; and ability to communicate orally and in writing. Flexible in performing different tasks and learning new library skills. Prefer one-year experience with Alma, ArchivesSpace and Islandora and working with audio visual materials.

Brooklyn Law School Library Fellow at Brooklyn Law School

The Brooklyn Law School Library is pleased to announce two paid library fellowship opportunities for the Spring 2023 Semester. This new fellowship program is designed to provide current library students with opportunities to perform foundational work in public services, reference, archives, and digital collections. Under the guidance of the Director of the Law Library and the Associate Librarian for Public Services, the library fellows program aims to provide fellows with valuable training and experience, while enabling the library to pursue new projects.
Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited Master’s degree program in Library Science or Information Science.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team.
Ability to prioritize projects as needed.
Previous customer service experience is preferred, but it is not required.
Candidates possessing a J.D. are also preferred, but a J.D. is not required.
**Please note previous experience working in a library is not required. This is an entry level opportunity to give current students an opportunity to gain experience working in an academic law library.
Duties:
Helps staff and manage the circulation desk. May require working in the evening.
Provides reference service and support to faculty, students, and alumni.
Develops expertise in all research databases to which the library subscribes.
Pay: $15 per hour
Hours: 10-20 hours a week

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the organization by handling circulation specific functions including checking materials in and out of the library, maintaining the reserves collections, monitoring door counts and equipment, and answering telephones.

Provide information regarding library programs, events, and resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or completion of a minimum of one-year coursework towards a BA/BS degree; and at least two years of full-time paraprofessional library experience; or three years’ experience in customer public service
Can lift up to 15 lbs and stand for long periods of time.
Proficiency at data entry
Ability to understand and apply best practices based on school library policies and procedures.
Must be team player, detail oriented, and have strong customer service orientation skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
Strong computer skills in MS Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite are essential.
Experience in higher education or non-profit organizations preferred.

Senior Library Assistant at Harry A. Sprague Library, Montclair State University

Under the direction of the department head, the Senior Library Assistant is responsible for providing efficient Circulation, Reserves and Resource Sharing services to the Library’s patrons in support of its mission, staffing the Circulation Desk, circulating materials, and stacks maintenance primarily during evening hours.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work at the Access Services desk answering the phones, and managing general library operations to ensure that library policies are adhered to.
Assist patrons with routine transactions at the Circulation Desk (e.g., checking out and checking in library materials, collecting fees, registering new patrons), respond to queries about other departmental services (e.g., placing hold requests, recalling books, searching for missing books, accessing items in the Electronic Reserves collection, etc.), troubleshoot patron problems, etc.
Assist in training and supervising staff and student assistants in routine Desk Area and Stacks operation procedures.
Perform Stacks Area duties, including retrieving books and other items from bins and tables throughout the Library (i.e., pick-ups), sorting, shelving, shelf reading, conducting an inventory of the collection, and shifting, etc.
Oversight of building issues during evenings is essential, including but not limited to handling complaints, addressing behavioral issues, and contacting facilities, public safety, and library administration.
Process incoming and outgoing Resource Sharing requests via the various systems deployed in the Library including filling electronic requests, and receiving and processing physical items.
Carry out Library building closing procedures; perform routine duties, including turning off the lights throughout the building, and checking/locking the front entrance and exit doors, etc.
Provide strong customer service to a diverse patron population, including faculty, staff, students, and community members.
Hours vary according to building closing hours, but are generally Monday through Thursday, 2:15 pm - 10:15 pm and Fridays from 12:15 pm - 8:15 pm during the Fall and Spring semesters. Building hours are shortened during the summer and breaks, this may require working earlier shifts such as 8:45am-4:45pm weekdays. Building hours are sometimes extended during finals which may require working later shifts such as 4:15 pm - 12:15 am. This is a 35 hour per week position.
