ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

ACQUISTIONS/PURCHASING:
Review, evaluate, and advise on the acquisition of library materials, especially those relevant to reference and instruction
Advise on the reorganization and deaccessioning of books, magazines and newspapers
Update marketing/promotional materials in all formats
Liaise with publishers, collection vendors, database vendors and libraries
Liaise with faculty and department chairs for acquisition requests
Occasional circulation support
MANAGEMENT/ADMINISTRATION AS NEEDED:
Create lesson plans for core classes to be used by all librarians
Train all librarians on information literacy instruction and reference
Develop content, look, and interactivity of research support materials and serve as the administrator to LibGuides
Provide necessary information to be used in updating the library component of the college’s website
Help develop policy guidelines for library reference processes and procedures in conjunction with colleagues (i.e.: Collection Development)
Serve and actively contribute to college-wide committees
As needed, assists the Director with the preparation of the yearly budget and quarterly department reports, end of term reports, and updates for the Board of Trustees
As needed, assist the Director with accumulation and analysis of statistical information relevant to library outcomes in information literacy, outreach and collection development
Maintain all statistics related to instruction and reference
Some oversight of student aides in absence of the Director
Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Library Services
REQUIREMENTS:
Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program is required.
Candidates should be knowledgeable about and interested in business and fashion.
At least two (2) years’ experience providing instruction and research services, preferably in an academic setting.
Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Databases, LibGuides, and video editing programs.
Clear writing ability and knowledge of trends and changes in academic libraries.

Description
New York University Libraries is seeking a tenure-track faculty librarian to support the needs of data-intensive research and teaching across a wide range of social sciences, humanities, and sciences disciplines at NYU. This individual works as part of our Data Services department to grow and sustain a dynamic program that supports researchers across the full data lifecycle, including data finding and access, data literacy training and consultation, and data collections management and licensing. This is an open-rank position and candidates will be appointed to a rank in accordance with experience and education.
The Data Reference & Collections Librarian plays a key role in connecting university researchers with data sources, building rich data collections at NYU Libraries, and contributing to wider efforts to bring ethical and social justice concerns to data access, collection development, and our role in the research lifecycle. Working in close collaboration with other subject-, software-, and curation specialists, the librarian in this position will:
Select, acquire, and manage quantitative, geospatial, text-based, qualitative, and other types of data assets in order to support campus research, scholarship, and FAIR principles for data access.
Raise awareness of our resources among faculty and students through outreach activities, usage tracking for items in our institutional repository, and partnerships with other providers.
Build knowledge about the shifting landscape of institutional repositories and various data sources at the national and international levels.
Develop and maintain awareness of ongoing debates about data collecting and distribution approaches oriented around ethical and restorative justice concerns, open access availability of funded research, data-centered innovations in the field, and inclusive governance standards (e.g. CARE).
Collaborate with colleagues in Data Services to deliver data-focused instruction, reference, and consultations, including a growing portfolio of instruction focused on data literacy, data use, and data ethics.
Depending upon the background of the candidate, this person may also serve as liaison librarian to one or more programs or departments at the University, selecting materials and providing services to support the research and teaching of faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students in said areas.
This position reports to the Head of Data Services and works closely with colleagues across the Research & Research Services subdivision as well as partners in Collections & Content Strategy, Scholarly Communications & Information Policy, Digital Scholarship Services, and the Digital Library Technology Services group.
Research
Faculty Librarians are also expected to pursue their own active research agendas, and contribute to building new knowledge in their chosen areas. Librarians have wide latitude in determining their research agendas, and the Data Reference & Collections Librarian would be well positioned to make substantive contributions to research in a number of areas, including, but not limited to, research services provision, data publication and the research lifecycle, multiple literacies within Libraries service provision, innovations in data discovery, social justice and data collection, the landscape of institutional repositories, or a field specific to their disciplinary background.

New York University Libraries is seeking two librarians to support a growing program focused on data and software curation, data and code management, and research assets stewardship. These tenure-track appointments support the needs of computational research and teaching across the disciplines at NYU. They work as integral members of our Data Services department, which seeks to grow and sustain a rapidly evolving set of services that span the full research lifecycle, including data finding and access; statistical, geospatial, qualitative, and text data analysis, training, and consultation; and data and software management, preservation, and publication.
The Research Curation Librarians support the Division of Libraries and university researchers in making their software and data available via our institutional repositories in accordance with FAIR principles, including curating and describing materials with an equitable and anti-racist practice, advancing inclusive governance standards (e.g. CARE), and supporting open and accessible workflows and tools. They will work with patrons, library colleagues, IT partners, and content providers to ensure that resources are curated, organized, preserved, and discoverable. The Research Curation Librarians will work as part of a team of research data management librarians, research software engineers, and digital preservationists to coordinate institutional repository and storage systems, curate data and code, and set relevant policies.
On a day-to-day basis, these positions will join with others on the team in providing:
Collaborative service around our joint IT and Division of Libraries infrastructure for institutional repositories, with a focus on stewarding data and software provided by researchers for deposit in fulfillment of FAIR principles.
Curation work that includes data transformation, software code review, and documentation that supports user deposits.
Policy planning and development for our institutional research infrastructure.
Responses to patron requests for help in deposit and self-curation.
One-on-one, group, and classroom consultation and instruction on good practices and standards for managing, organizing, and transforming research materials for publication in NYU or other repository infrastructure, including those required to align with funder requirements.
Links between patron-facing services and our development leads in designing systems that help users manage and publish their research materials.

The Outreach and Assessment (OA) Librarian is responsible for developing and overseeing user experience testing and assessment projects, managing programming and outreach efforts, and providing library instruction and reference services in person, as well as online utilizing a variety of technologies. The OA Librarian leads the Library's activities in user-centered design and user-experience assessment, and utilizes the collected data to develop strategic outreach and programming for a diverse base of library users and stakeholders. In concert with other library staff, the OA Librarian plans, implements, and evaluates in-person and online experiences to facilitate authentic engagement with the library and its collections, services, spaces, expertise, and user education. This OA Librarian assists with the collection development of physical materials for the library and for e-resources in assigned areas. Essential Duties
* Consults with library stakeholders, including students, faculty, and staff, regarding user experience and usability issues and develops project plans in alignment with strategic plans of the library and the college as a whole.
* Develops and implements user experience testing and assessments including but not limited to: usability testing of library systems, on-site observations, qualitative interviews and focus groups, and moderating in-person and remote usability tests.
* Works with the Library Planning and Assessment Committee, the Chief Librarian, the College's Academic Assessment Committee, and the York College Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning to prepare data reports and analyze user experience data to identify key findings and opportunities.
* Identifies needs and opportunities for library engagement with campus and community library users and potential users and develops outreach and marketing plans targeted at those groups.
QUALIFICATIONS
* MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program in library or information science and an additional master's degree in another field.
* At least 2 years' relevant experience, preferably in a college or other academic library.
* Familiarity with user experience testing and other assessment methods used in library and academic environments.
* Proficiency with standard reference procedures and the use of online databases to conduct academic research.

The User Experience and Emerging Technologies Librarian's duties include:
Exploring emerging technological trends to improve the physical and virtual presence of the Library and making recommendations for adoption of appropriate technologies.
Building awareness and acceptance of implemented technologies.
Assessing the impact of technology-based services on Library users, including collecting and reporting usage statistics and other user input and data.
Evaluating and updating the Library’s website in conjunction with Reference colleagues and Academic IT.

The Fellowship is intended for new professionals who have demonstrated engagement with general cataloging and archival processing and wish to enhance their skills through intensive specialized training. This is a unique opportunity for early-career professionals to receive training and mentoring as members of the Morgan Library & Museum curatorial and cataloging staff.
Starting in February 2023, the Fellowship will consist of 650 hours, and applicants will have a choice between full-time (35 hours per week) or part-time (21 hours per week) work in order to complete the 650 hours. Fellows will be assigned to work on specific groups of 19th- or 20th-century correspondence. The Digital Cicognara Library Project invites applications for a part-time Project Metadata Specialist funded by a grant from The Samuel H. Kress Foundation, sponsored by Princeton University. The Digital Cicognara Library is an international initiative to recreate in open access digital form the remarkable private book collection of Count Leopoldo Cicognara (1767–1834). Built by contributing partners, the site presents the full text of Ciccognara’s 1821 published inventory integrated with digital images and full text of every title in the corpus, including black-and-white facsimiles of the original volumes in the Vatican, and one or more high-resolution color facsimiles of unique copies from partner libraries, with thorough bibliographic information. Reporting to the Project Director of the Digital Cicognara Library (DCL) Project and Assistant Director of Princeton University Library IT, the DCL Metadata & Cataloging Specialist performs digital project implementation with the goals of completing all aspects of microfiche digitization and managing preparation and submission of metadata for digital surrogates provided by partner libraries.
Responsibilities: The incumbent will:
● In conjunction with digital project specialists at Princeton University Library and the National Gallery of Art Library, Washington DC, aid in transitioning metadata to a new sustainable platform, create and document sustainable workflows for ingesting metadata for project partners’ contributions, and verifying bibliographic and metadata content.
● Provide Princeton IT staff with information relevant to metadata for Cicognara microfiche and partner IIIF manifest presentation on the DCL web site; and provide National Gallery of Art, Washington staff with updated bibliographic information and metadata for the Vatican Library copies on microfiche. Assist with updating digitized microfiche MARC Records.
● In conjunction with DCL Project staff, coordinate information from the DCL project’s Excel Master File, to add Digital Cicognara Library (DCL) numbers and Catalogo citation to OCLC (WorldCat) master records for the print and for digitized versions. This includes adding the relevant Cicognara values in MARC fields 024 & 510; adding other bibliographic information when needed, and ensuring quality control of metadata.
● Establish import procedures for WorldCat libraries to add revised OCLC records into the local systems and coordinate with catalogers at partner institutions as necessary to verify copy-specific descriptive information.
● Collaborate with catalogers at partner institutions as necessary to resolve questions on local copies (e.g., adding local collection information) and advise potential and new contributors on Getty Research Portal submission procedures and standards.
Qualifications and experience:
Reading knowledge of at least one European language including Italian, German, French, and Latin
A Bachelor's or preferably advanced degree in art history or related humanities subjects.
