Job Description:
Maritime College is seeking an innovative, collaborative and service-orientation Reference and Instruction Librarian. This user-focused librarian will work with faculty, regimental staff, and student support services to support the learning and research needs of students. The ideal candidate will provide a variety of professional library services to a diverse array of talented students and colleagues.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in the library's instruction program by providing course integrated information literacy instruction sessions based on institutional learning outcomes and industry best practices
- Provide in-person, online, and phone reference service and research consultations with students and faculty
- Design, develop, and produce instructional materials in various formats including LibGuides, online tutorials, and training materials to meet a variety of student needs for use in-person, online, and hybrid learning environments.
- Provide liaison outreach and support to academic departments as assigned in order to ensure collections and services meet faculty and student needs
- Assist with the coordination and implementation of the Library Lecture Series
- Engage and participate in the library's ongoing assessment activities
- Cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with faculty, students, and staff in support of campus teaching, learning, research, and student success
- Engage in scholarly and professional development activities in support of promotion and tenure requirements
- Serves on college and library committees, participates in local, regional, and national associations, and engages in scholarly and professional development activities in support of promotion and tenure requirements
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in information and/or library science from an ALA-accredited school or an ALA- approved foreign equivalent
- Evidence of effective communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of information resources as shown in previous experience or course work
- Teaching experience
- Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing assignments and needs
- Strong customer service ethic
- Ability to work occasional nights and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- 0-3 years of experience in an academic or research library
- Experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or service with diverse populations
Additional Information:
Classification/Salary Range: The Reference and Instruction Librarian is a UUP position. The anticipated salary range for the position is $50,000 - $60,000 annually, with an outstanding benefits package (for more information please see the Full Time UUP Benefits Summary). Salary will commensurate with experience and qualifications. Review of applications to commence immediately and conclude when the position is filled.
Special Notes: This is a full-time calendar year appointment UUP Position. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
