Collection: NYPR Program Guide Digitization Project (1937-2000)

Description: New York Public Radio (NYPR)’s Program Guide collection contains WNYC program guides from 1938 – 2000 and WQXR guides from 1937 – 1963. Before program information was available on the world wide web, access to WNYC and WQXR programming schedules were available only to listener-members who subscribed to them via a physical guide in the mail each month. These guides/booklets detailed the broadcast schedules of WQXR AM & FM, WNYC AM & FM and TV. The guides also included articles of interest about station events and personalities/hosts, as well as specific program profiles. The guides will be of interest to scholars and researchers who are conducting any historical analysis that involves WNYC and/or WQXR, as they provide context on civic affairs, public-interest and arts and culture programming during this period of time.
