Introducing The New Look Of METRO

A page from the METRO New York Library Council's brand guidelines shows the different ways its logo can look, including different sizes in black and white, and then a multicolor version, a green version, a black version, and a version in a black outline.

We’re excited to debut the new visual identity of the METRO New York Library Council!

Over the last decade METRO has grown and changed quite a bit, and we continue to plan exciting new initiatives to serve our membership and the field at large. We felt like the time was right for a brand refresh. In creating our new logo and look, we sought a way to convey our unique organization and complex constellation of service offerings, the values and principles that unite and drive all of our work, and the culture we seek to create both internally and throughout our community. But we also wanted to create a fun (but serious), innovative (but practical), flexible (but consistent) image of METRO.

We were thrilled to work with the team at Froghouse for this project. From the beginning, their focus on the principle of belonging brought out that spirit, which we feel comes through in the new designs. We are grateful for their supportive and collaborative work throughout the process, which, in addition to creating the visual identity, involved creating our new website. For more detail on the process and themes that shaped this work, check out Froghouse’s portfolio piece.

The new identity fits within the evolving vision of METRO, and we look forward to having you join us as we continue to grow.
