TITLE OF POSITION: Technical Services Assistant (EResources and Acquisitions) Fordham University
Hourly/Non-Benefited (19 hours per week)
DEPARTMENT: Walsh Library, Rose Hill
Fordham University is easily accessible via MTA Metro North railroad. The Fordham Road Station is at the gate of the campus and a 2-minute walk to Walsh Library. The campus is also available via MTA subway and bus, and by car.
Summary: Reporting to the Acquisitions Librarian, the Technical Services Assistant will assist and support the workflows in the EResources and Serials Department, as well as those in the Acquisitions Department.
Essential functions:
- Assists in researching the availability of streaming videos and ordering streaming videos and ebooks from established vendors.
- Assists in providing original metadata for media and print materials in various languages, as well as resolving problems with existing metadata in the library catalog.
- Assists in creating invoices for hard copy book shipments using library system software.
- Assists with the submission of annual renewals of electronic and print subscriptions, as well as print standing orders.
- Assists with ongoing maintenance of electronic and print journals, ensuring continued access and content availability.
- Assists with advising vendors/publishers of problems related to payments, refunds, access, and missing content.
- Assists with the processing of vendor-supplied invoices.
- Assists in maintaining monthly statistics.
Required Qualifications: Education and Experience:
- B.A. or B.S., with intent to pursue MILS or MLS
- Minimum of one year in an academic or special library
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
- Experience with an integrated library system.
- Experience in creating and editing metadata.
- Strong working knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Aptitude for technology and the ability to learn new systems, software, and data manipulation tools.
- Experience with Sirsi Dynix Symphony or an equivalent ILS.
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate with other staff on projects.
Preferred Qualifications: Education and Experience:
- MLIS or MLS from an ALA accredited institution.
Not responsible for supervision or oversight of others.
SALARY:$25.00 – $25.00 per hour
SCHEDULE: 19 hours per week (Monday to Thursday, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM; Friday, 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM)
