  • Oversee the maintenance, configuration, and security of servers, desktop workstations, and library systems.
  • Perform desktop deployments and imaging for Windows PCs and Mac OS, ensuring consistency and efficiency across the library’s technology environment.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
  • Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures to safeguard library systems, data, and user privacy.
  • Develop and maintain scripts (VBScript, PowerShell) to automate system administration tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the IT Academic Applications Director on strategic planning for the future of library technology and services.
  • Assist with minor web programming tasks to support library web applications as needed.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls across systems.
  • Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Provide technical support and training to library staff and faculty
  • Document system configurations, processes, and procedures for reference and training purposes.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, cybersecurity trends, and best practices in system administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Other Qualifications:

  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
  • Experience with web programming (PHP/CSS/JavaScript) is a plus.
  • Experience in an academic or library setting.
  • Experience with network administration and monitoring tools.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Provides support to students and faculty in the use of instructional systems, software, and programs.

  • Researches and prepares program materials, FAQs, and user guides
  • Provides telephone and/or email support for faculty and student users of instructional systems, software, and programs
  • Develops training materials and delivers orientation/training sessions
  • Maintains on-line information on web sites
  • Acts as liaison to related areas such as CUNY’s Computer and Information Services area, to evaluate and escalate reported problems, and disseminate information notices
  • Assists faculty with use of instructional technology to support educational goals
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
