Join METRO for a community gathering on Tuesday, September 22 at the Center for Brooklyn History.
Following this year’s virtual annual meeting in June, we’re excited to bring the METRO community together to mark the first day of fall and celebrate new projects from METRO’s Cross-Reference Coalition (CRC)! Join us for a range of self-directed activities and panel discussions where participants from the program’s first year will introduce their publication projects, centered around the themes of The Misfit and Search & Discovery, and reflect on the site visits, discussions, and ideas that resulted in each project, which will both be debuted at the event.
You’ll hear from METRO’s Executive Director Nate Hill about work happening across METRO’s programs and services, and from Natiba Guy-Clement, Director of Special Collections at the Center for Brooklyn History, who will share info about current exhibits and programs happening at the Center.
Copies of the limited-run CRC publications will be available for viewing, and authors, METRO board, and CRC advisory committee members can pick up their copies during the event. We’ll share the order form for METRO member institutions interested in acquiring the publications; digital editions will be freely available.
As is common in autumn equinox traditions, we’ll also have an offering table: do you have flyers, stickers, zines, or programs related to your work? Something to offer to another attendee on the spot, like a lesson in how to fold origami, journal making, or other skill? We’d love for you to bring an offering to share with fellow attendees.
The meeting will take place from 6:00pm-9:00pm in the Great Hall at the Center For Brooklyn History at 128 Pierrepont St, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Doors will open at 6pm, with wine and snacks provided. Panel discussions will commence at 6:30, and we’ll close out with a recognition of the autumn equinox at 8:04pm. Afterwards, join us for a social hour to connect with the CRC project contributors and other library, archive, and museum workers from our more than 200 member organizations. Space is limited. Please register ahead of time to reserve your spot.
All presentations will take place indoors; masks are recommended, but not required.
