We are seeking a warm, creative, and enthusiastic Librarian to create a joyful introduction to books, stories, and early literacy for our students. The Librarian will oversee a developmentally appropriate library environment, work with teachers and children to foster an interest of reading and learning. The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, has a strong knowledge of children’s literature, is energetic, and has the passion for teaching children about stories, libraries, and check out procedures.
Responsibilities
- Create a welcoming, engaging, and age-appropriate library environment for preschool-aged children.
- Coordinate and carry out a yearly book fair with Scholastic.
- Plan and lead interactive story times, read-alouds, songs, and literacy activities.
- Select and organize books and other materials appropriate for young children and their developmental levels.
- Help children learn how to care for, choose, explore, and enjoy books.
- Introduce children to a diverse range of authors, cultures, characters, and experiences through literature.
- Maintain and organize the library collection, including shelving, circulation, displays, and inventory.
- Communicate with teachers and families about books, reading, and ways to encourage literacy at home.
- Perform other library-related duties as needed.
- Familiarity with the Follet system is a plus.
Employment Type: Part-Time, 20 hours per week, 10 month contract, 9am-1pm
