The Web Content Manager is responsible for the content on the Columbia University Libraries’ website. The incumbent will ensure online content is fresh, relevant, and consistent with the organization’s strategic goals, brand and messaging. The incumbent will use web-based systems, including a content management system, to build and maintain the more general areas of the Libraries’ website, while serving as a liaison between the Libraries’ Communications team and individuals across the organization who have responsibility for unit-specific web pages. The position regularly interacts with the Libraries’ Web Services team to inform technological platform and information architecture decisions, including potential redesigns, upgrades, or changes related to organizational shifts.
-Plan and execute an ongoing systematic review and update of content throughout the Libraries’ website and intranet in collaboration with the Communications team and Web Services team. (30%) -Review content created by unit-based content owners for quality, accuracy, and brand adherence. Train and advise unit-based content owners on web content best practices. Create ongoing opportunities for skills development and knowledge-sharing for unit-based content owners. (20%) -Contribute clear and compelling content to key areas of the Libraries’ website, including articles, blog posts, and marketing copy. Source and edit images for on-site use. Adhere to SEO best practices for all content. (20%) -Collaborate with the Web Services team on content aspects of major additions and redesigns. (15%) -Make recommendations for best practices for user experience, usability, SEO, navigation, user analytics and accessibility. Track, monitor, and act on insights gathered from traffic and engagement metrics. (10%) -Other duties as assigned (5%)
Preferred Qualifications -Experience with Google Analytics or similar tools -Experience in higher ed or other industry with intangible product -Experience teaching web communication concepts to a non-technical audience -Experience with e-mail marketing and CRM platforms
