LIM College – Where Business Meets Fashion is currently seeking candidates for the position of Part-Time Evening and Weekend Librarian GENERAL DESCRIPTION LIM College educates students for success in the global business of fashion and its many related industries. Located in midtown Manhattan - the fashion capital of the world - and devoted exclusively to the study of business and fashion, LIM College fosters a unique connection between real-world experience and academic study in business principles. Undergraduate students may major in Fashion Merchandising, International Business, Management, Marketing or Visual Merchandising. At the graduate level, LIM College offers an MPS programs in Fashion Marketing, Fashion Merchandising & Retail Management, Global Fashion Supply Chain Management, and Visual Merchandising. The Part-time Evening and Weekend Librarian assists students and faculty, both in-person and virtually, with print and digital sources of information during weekday evening and Saturday hours. He/she is responsible for providing reference services for patrons using both standard paper sources and online sources, and for supervising work-study students.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES PROVIDES AND TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FOLLOWING SERVICE FUNCTIONS: • Analyzing patron requests to determine needed information and assisting in furnishing and locating that information. • Teaching patrons to search for information using research databases and other information sources. • Teaching library information classes as needed including workshops for Graduate study classes. • Supervising work-study students. • Checking books in and out of the library using the SIRSI library system. • Explaining the use of library facilities, equipment and services. • Offering and relating information about library policies. • Assembling and arranging materials for displays. • Maintaining ordering of subscription periodicals and journals.Communicating with related vendors. PROVIDES AND TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FOLLOWING NON SERVICE FUNCTIONS: • Keeping records of all library transactions. • Assisting students with copy machines and printers. • Weeding books, magazines and newspapers as needed. • Responding to patron complaints and taking action as necessary. • Compiling lists of new materials, such as books, periodicals and DVDs as needed. • Assisting in Open House programs as needed. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS • All reference requests are handled efficiently and in a professional and courteous manner. • Telephone calls are handled in a professional manner. • Good communication skills are always employed. • A professional and confident image is displayed


REQUIREMENTS: The person selected will have the following qualifications: Minimum Required Qualifications: • Master’s Degree in the field of Library Service or equivalent • Knowledge of Library systems (SIRSI), software and operations • A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in an academic library environment
