Library Director - Long Beach Public Library

The Long Beach Public Library serves a population of nearly 40,000 in a diverse seaside community that values cultural enrichment and life-long learning, as well as early childhood development and education.


The Director supervises facilities planning and maintenance; evaluates effectiveness of of library services and proposes and encourages change; exercises general supervision over the work of all library personnel; prepares an annual budget; monitors and manages expenditures; represents the Library at community meetings; attends professional meetings and represents the Library in the county wide NLS consortium and Member Library Directors (MLD) groups; reports to an elected Board of Trustees.


Possession of NYS Public Librarian Certification; Possession of a Masters Degree in Library Science from an ALA or NYSED accredited library school; Six years of satisfactory professional library experience - with two of those years in an administrative or supervisory capacity - or one of those years as an Assistant Director of a public library.


Starting range $115,000 - 140,000
