Ho-Ho-Kus’ Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library seeks a forward-thinking, dynamic Director to guide the library into its next phase of growth, as outlined in its 2020-25 Strategic Plan.
WPML serves a tight-knit community of 4,078. Ho-Ho-Kus, ranked #1 in New Jersey Monthly’s Top 100 Towns (2017), is situated in northwest Bergen County and has a rich history dating back more than three hundred years. The library is currently looking towards the future with the hope of expanding its physical footprint over the next few years. WPML has greatly expanded its service offerings in recent years, and the Board of Trustees is eager to welcome a new Director who can continue the upward trajectory.
Required minimum qualifications for this role are:
- ALA-accredited MLIS or equivalent
- New Jersey Professional Librarian’s Certificate
- Five years professional public library experience, with at least two years serving in a supervisory capacity
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a small public library, a working knowledge of New Jersey library laws, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Professional experience with community outreach, collection development, and employee training is required. Candidates should be comfortable working with a budget and interfacing cooperatively with patrons, staff, and key stakeholders.
Starting salary is $80,000.00. Benefits include health, dental, and prescription coverage, enrollment in PERS, and a generous paid time off (PTO) package. Per the NJ First Act, New Jersey residence is required within one year of start date.
