The Gottesman Libraries at Teachers College seeks a Reserves and Support Services Librarian to facilitate course reserves for the Teachers College community, provide interlibrary loan services in both electronic and physical formats, and contribute to technical services team initiatives.

A dynamic team player with a comprehensive approach to both patron and technical services will be an ideal candidate for the Reserves and Support Services Librarian at Gottesman Libraries. The Reserves and Support Services Librarian will facilitate course reserves for the Teachers College community, collaborating and consulting with faculty, course assistants, and program managers as needed. The candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of technical workflows and be able to conduct responsive reference interviews, employing active listening skills and offering solutions to faculty navigating the scholarly publishing landscape as it relates to course materials, materials access, accessibility, copyright restrictions, and open access materials.

The Reserves and Support Services Librarian will also facilitate interlibrary loan alongside library services staff, and work with staff to ship and receive physical interlibrary loan materials. The successful candidate will also facilitate digital lending, and work with library staff to improve and streamline interlibrary loan services and discovery across Teachers College and Columbia University Libraries.

In addition to providing interlibrary loan services, the Reserves and Support Services Librarian will play an integral role in facilitating digitization and scanning services. A dedication to accessible and inclusive library services and design is required. The Reserves and Support Services Librarian will also assist with the compilation and review of data pertinent to technical services and library collections.

Duties:
30% Receives, processes, and fulfills course reserve reading lists

25% Provides interlibrary loan services in both electronic and physical formats

25% Collaborates with technical services team and others to facilitate digitization and scanning services to Teachers College and Columbia University members

15% Assists with compilation and review of data that drive decisions for technical services, including library collections

5% Performs related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree from an ALA-accredited program
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of technical services

  • Proficiency in Integrated Library Systems
  • Familiarity with resource sharing practices and protocols
  • Ability to work well with others in a collegial environment
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new standards and technologies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Ex Libris’ Alma, Primo, and Leganto Systems
  • Experience in academic libraries and understanding of issues in higher education
  • Experience in interlibrary lending and related systems
