This new position will expand AJHS infrastructure with respect to digital content and its use in education and programming, by creating and highlighting new digital content drawn from the library, museum, and archival holdings. This position reports directly to the Director of Collections and Engagement, and will work closely with the Director to set priorities, workflows, and policies in multiple areas. This role will be responsible for creating new digital content, assisting the Director in processing photo/use permissions, and improving current descriptions of materials. The Librarian will work closely with the Programs Committee and Special Projects Manager to develop programs and educational events. The librarian will also assist the Director of Collections and Engagement in managing the physical AJHS Library holdings (50,000 books, including four rare book collections), and will be responsible for cataloging of new library materials.
The successful candidate will:
Participate in and/or lead collaborative discussions to develop library system policies and procedures
Work effectively with metadata and discovery staff to identify and implement dynamic platforms and strategies to increase access to AJHS digital assets
Be able to effectively collaborate with colleagues to develop programs, share resources, and communicate trends in library services
Promote, develop, and conduct instruction sessions relating to special collections materials
Help to effectively manage the AJHS library holdings, in conjunction with the Director of Collections and Engagement
Develop and execute special projects as assigned.
Participate in the general reference work of the AJHS, including paging materials to the Reading Rooms for researchers

Masters degree in library science, and 3-5 years professional experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in outreach and education.
Experience with cataloging, both copy and original.
Ability to work flexibly, independently and collaboratively in a complex organizational environment
Capacity to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Experience in describing rare books and materials
Formal coursework and/or experience with special collections
Experience with ExLibris products (Rosetta, Primo, and Aleph)
