The User Services Librarian is responsible for providing User Services in a museum/research library setting while maintaining the highest customer service standards and remaining current with new technology and resources. This position collaborates closely with other library staff and staff in other departments to ensure coordination, collaboration and optimal use of library resources and collections, proactively seeking ways to enhance the library user experience.
Additionally, this position supports, through actions and conduct, NYBG’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility initiatives and helps to build and maintain an inclusive organization culture throughout the institution.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates Circulation services, assists library patrons with collection inquiries and research strategies; refer library patrons to other library staff when necessary.
Devises metrics to capture usage, circulation and visitation and benchmarks to evaluate progress and apply outcomes to library services efforts;
Creates and maintains web-based pages and LibGuides to assist and motivate users while increasing access to resources;
Collaborates and shares responsibility with other library staff on developing and scheduling programming and outreach.
Collaborates with other library staff on special collection-based projects.
Develops and revises circulation workflows and circulating collection policies.
Shares responsibility of basic library functions with other library staff, such as; desk coverage, shelving, etc.
MLS from ALA-accredited program.
Experience working in an academic or special library setting, with public services experience being preferred.
Excellent interpersonal, research, oral/written communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with current and emerging trends and technologies related to libraries and user experience.
Familiarity with trends in digital scholarship, digital humanities and scholarly communication.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Ability to multitask effectively while remaining flexible in adapting to new situations, systems and tools.
Ability to organize, synthesize and apply collection and user data to department workflows and user experiences.
