Bayville Free Library

The Bayville Free Library is a suburban library on the north shore of Nassau County, New York. It serves a community of approximately 7,000 residents.
The Library Director plans, organizes, directs and is responsible for the operations and activities of the library within the parameters of NYS law and library policies. The person in this position must be a positive and flexible individual who enjoys working with people of all ages and backgrounds, has outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and is proficient in technology hardware and software as well as web-based applications. The director will provide leadership as the administrative branch of the library’s governance.

Plan, direct and supervise the work of all library staff to include the making of their schedules and assignments
Promote continuing education among staff
Keep informed of developments in the library field by attending MLD and professional organization meetings and workshops
Maintain all personnel files
Interview and select new staff as needed
Coordinate, maintain and supervise all automated library functions ie blog, web page and newsletter to promote public awareness of library services
Plan and supervise new library services and programs
Evaluate the effectiveness of all programs
Oversee the maintenance of library property and new construction
Work with Village of Bayville, Library Trustees and vendors regarding the physical plant
Work with outside computer consultant regarding equipment, software etc.
Report to Board of Trustees
Encourage community relations through the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, local schools etc.
Oversee inventory and collection development
Provide reference service when needed
Prepare annual budget proposal for the village
Administer approved budget
Prepare grant applications
Prepare payroll
Classify receipts and expenditures according to budget specifications
Approve, certify and account for use of funds
Compile all statistics
Prepare for audit
Prepare Annual Report for the state
