Librarians for Libraries: How to Advocate on behalf of Public Libraries

February 18, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Save the Date! Lauren Comito will share actionable steps library workers can take in support of public libraries.

Year after year, public libraries find themselves on the budgetary chopping block. Starting in March until the end of June, public library staff turn their forces toward advocating to keep their jobs. Talk about an exhausting way to live!

Library workers in other sectors face their own difficult circumstances, it’s true. But imagine for a moment how powerful we could be if we adopted a mandate of “all for one and one for all.”

This workshop seeks to provide context, tactics, and tools that those who work outside the public library can employ during the 2020 advocacy season and beyond. Whether or not you are planning to take trips to Albany or D.C. this year, this workshop will give you the resources you need to fight the good fight on behalf of our public libraries.
