Networking

For more than 40 years, METRO has been a vital networking resource bringing together members of the library community in New York City and Westchester County. Through special events, annual meetings, training programs, Special Interest Groups and other services, we help professionals at every level to meet helpful industry contacts and explore future directions for their libraries and their careers. METRO's networking opportunities position our members to work together to address challenges related to budgets and funding, and to participate more effectively in the political and legal debates that affect library operations.

METRO Special Interest Groups

Special Interest Groups include members of the library community who share and want to explore common interests. METRO currently has several SIGS available. For information about topics and events, visit our SIGs page.

Annual Meetings and Issues Forums

The METRO Annual Meeting and Issues Forums now represent two of the most important large-scale networking events within the library community in New York City and Westchester County each year.

The METRO Annual Meeting includes an update on program and service activity as well as renowned guest speakers. The meeting is an important opportunity to meet colleagues and industry leaders and to discuss collaborative opportunities. More than 250 people now attend the METRO Annual Meeting each year.

METRO Issues Forums are scheduled throughout the year and focus on issues that influence and challenge library operations in New York and Westchester County. Recent Forums have explored important developments in technology, evolving user needs, and strategies to expand library services and access. Each Forum features presentations by leading experts and opportunities to ask questions and share insights.

You can find out more about the annual meeting and upcoming issues forum on our calendar.
