DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a key member of the Queens Library’s Leadership Team and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President, the Vice President, Information Technology leads an energetic and creative team to ensure robust and reliable IT service and to lead the strategic technology direction for the Library. Responsible for all of the Queens Library’s information technology operations including project management, business processes, vendor management, cyber security and internal/external end user support. Oversees technology infrastructure, development, applications and implementation/maintenance of all IT systems. Develops strategies for moving the Library forward in its mission using technology as a strategic asset and tool to achieve outcomes and goals. Prioritizes resources and develops strategic plans for the use of technology within the library for public services and improved/enhanced business operations. Creates a work environment that encourages high performance, collaboration, innovation and excellent internal and external customer service. The Vice President, Information Technology leads the Information Technology Department with a forward-looking vision that fosters and supports innovation, develops creative solutions, and sets industry best practices to maintain and expand Queens Library’s influence and reputation as the preeminent global technology library.

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems required, Master’s Degree preferred. At least 10 years of relevant experience in Information Technology within a large complex environment, including at least 5 years in an Executive level position. Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business challenges and creating service opportunities. Ability to use, understand and influence the highest levels of current and emerging workplace and other technology, security and infrastructure, system integration, technical architecture, hardware, email, internet, databases, social media and other software. Knowledge and demonstrated experience in the development project lifecycle and the ability to manage multiple projects, organize workload and integration effectively and efficiently to accommodate numerous deadlines. Must have the ability and experience in managing and supervising all levels of staff, including ability to lead and manage a multi-site operation. Ability to communicate, work effectively and leverage unique strengths of a diverse staff in order to accomplish organizational and department goals and objectives. Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills are required. Experience in planning and budgeting required, preferably in a large organizational setting. Knowledge of library content/collection and technology trends, best practices and industry standards preferred. Ability to make complex technology issues understandable to others. Can identify opportunities for synergy and integration and apply appropriately to ensure effective delivery of services. Experience in a large, multi-facility public library or academic setting is highly preferred.
