Duties:

The Sojourner Truth Library at the State University of New York at New Paltz invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Librarian position.
Working within the Research and Education Team of librarians, the candidate will provide reference and instruction services to students and faculty at SUNY New Paltz. These services include, but aren’t limited to: Provision of information literacy instruction to classes and groups; provision of general public reference assistance at the Information Desk, virtual reference service, and during individual research consultations; creation of instructional materials utilizing current technologies; participation in collection
development and faculty liaison/student mentoring services. Candidate will serve on departmental and campus committees, make scholarly contributions to the field, and pursue ongoing professional growth. Occasional weekend reference shifts and one weekly evening reference shift are required as assigned. Assists with special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

• An ALA accredited master’s degree in library/information science required
• The successful candidate will have demonstrable reference experience; library instruction and/or teaching experience
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a strong service orientation
• Creativity, flexibility and the ability to work cooperatively in a team based, user centered environment is critically important.
• Academic experience is highly desirable.
