Description

The Pine Plains Free Library Board of Trustees in Pine Plains, NY seeks a self-directed, articulate, and community-minded individual to direct a municipal library with 1349 patrons and over 5500 yearly visits in a small town environment. The Director oversees a staff of two part time clerks and many volunteers and will report directly to the Board of Trustees. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and completion of at least sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited college or university or any combination of training and experience to indicate an ability to do the work. Being a creative problem solver and relating well with the public are highly desirable qualities. Salary Range:  $35,000 - $40,000 commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements

Experience

High School graduation and completion of at least sixty (60) credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university or any combination of training and experience sufficient to indicate ability to do work.

Skills

Working knowledge of library services and procedures, laws and regulations;

Working knowledge of library materials and their use;

 Ability to carry out library policies and procedures;
 Ability to train and supervise library staff;
 Ability to exercise leadership and motivate others;
 Ability to establish effective working relationships with community organizations;
Ability to express oneself clearly both orally and in writing to groups and individuals;
Skill and accuracy in the performance of technical library tasks;
 Tact and courtesy in dealing with staff and public;
 Flexible work schedule
 Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Computer Skills

Ability to use library computers and other technology, Including Microsoft Office and
Sierra

Education Required
