Librarian - part time

Job Information


Yeshiva University seeks a part-time librarian for the Hedi Steinberg Library located at its Beren Campus in mid-town Manhattan.  The schedule will be 4 mornings a week, 8:30am to approximately 12:30pm.

Primary responsibilities: 

  • Guide  Library patrons in the use of library resources and research by:
    • Providing one-on-one reference service in person, via phone, email, “ask” service, texting, chat, and/or other developing technologies or modes of communication
    • Teaching library classes
    • Creating guides to library research
    • Developing content for library web pages
  • Participate in library collection development
  • Stay current with developments in the library profession, research trends and methods and modes of scholarly communication
  • Exhibit initiative in promoting the integration of new approaches and technologies into the University’s library services

The librarian will perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


•Excellent grasp of library principles, processes, software, technology and resources
•Ability to learn new techniques and adapt to new paradigms
•Expertise in at least one academic discipline
•Excellent listening and communications skills
•Customer service demeanor and patience when dealing with patrons
•Hebrew language skills preferred

Education Required

•Master’s Degree in Library Science and related experience
