The User Experience Designer is adept at translating user needs into innovative and professional prototypes. Working with a small team of UX professionals, the UX Designer for Public Services will employ user-centered data and solicit departmental input to develop scalable, reusable front-end solutions for NYU Libraries applications and will stay abreast of design patterns, style-guides, frameworks, and technologies, as well as maintain relevant documentation for the department.
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Interactive Design, Human Factors, Visual Design or a degree with an equivalent curriculum that teaches user-centered design principles.
Required Experience: Minimum of two years related user experience and design experience.
Preferred Experience: SASS/LESS experience a plus
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong visual and interactive design proficiency, Ability to apply a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities, Ability to work collaboratively and professionally with other staff and performing as a solid contributor on cross-functional teams to achieve goals, Ability to effectively communicate conceptual ideas and design rationales visually, verbally, and in writing, Thrive in an agile environment, A firm grasp of usability and accessibility principles and best practices, Demonstrated proficiency in prototyping software, such as Sketch, Photoshop, Axure, Invision, etc.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Proficient in HTML and CSS, SASS / LESS experience a plus
