News> News from SUNY Maritime College’s Stephen B. Luce Library

The Stephen B. Luce Library has been selected for inclusion in the Renaissance Library Calendar 2009. Published annually in Sweden, this handsomely designed calendar features the greatest and oldest libraries in the world.

In addition, the Luce Library has recently completed its acquisition of the entire Sailors’ Snug Harbor collection, which includes more than 60,000 pages and 70 bound volumes that predate 1833, when the institution first began providing free care to elderly and disabled seamen. The Sailors’ Snug Harbor digital collection, which was supported in part by a METRO digitization grant, is now featured on Digital METRO New York and newyorkheritage.org.
