Full Description
Being an independent consultant is attractive to many professionals - for good reasons including the comfortable image of working flexible hours in one's loungewear.  Reality, of course, calls for a great deal of introspection and planning: Are you suited for the uncertainty, the self promotion, the irregular work loads, and similar characteristics of consulting (or freelancing)?  Ulla de Stricker presents highlights from her book "Is Consulting for you?" (written on request for American Library Association) and outlines a checklist of considerations.  From her 20 years of successful consulting work, Ulla then shares her recommendations for maximizing the chances you, too, will find being independent a rewarding and fulfilling work and lifestyle.  Previous attendees at Ulla's entrepreneurship presentations say her honesty about the nitty gritty helped them feel much better equipped to assess their potential as independents.
