A cover letter can be a powerful way to introduce yourself to a potential employer. Many job hunters, though, view cover letter writing as something to get done as quickly as possible, and miss opportunities because they are not putting enough care and effort into it. It can be a challenge to write an effective, targeted cover letter that makes you stand out from the competition and convinces the reader to take a good look at your resume and call you to set up an interview.

By the end of this program, participants will:
- Be able to read position descriptions with a critical eye
- Know how to write cover letters tailored specifically for each job
- Be able to identify words and phrases that should be included in the cover letter
- Have learned some strategies for capturing the reader's attention and selling oneself in the few paragraphs of a cover letter
Computers will be available for attendees to work on their own existing cover letters. Please feel free to bring in a Word file on a USB drive or store your file somewhere you can access it online.
