High School to College Transition SIG Meeting

Please join us at our next High School to College Transition SIG!
Jennifer Glaser of Brooklyn Latin School and Gerald Heverly of New York University Division of Libraries will present "Teaching Research Skills for the International Baccalaureate's Extended Essay."
The Brooklyn Latin School, one of nine specialized public high schools in New York City, offers an International Baccalaureate degree. Seniors opting for the IB diploma must submit an extended essay, a college-level research paper of about 20 pp., complete with analysis, footnotes, and bibliography. Teaching students the research skills needed for successfully completing the extended essay can be a challenge. This presentation will discuss a partnership between the school and NYU Libraries to address that challenge.
In addition to this presentation we will be using news stories and official documents to look at issues surrounding the Common Core in order to better understand what it means for high school and college librarians.
We look forward to an engaging and collaborative meeting and hope to see you there!
