Marzena Ermler is a learning and development professional who for the past eight years honed her organizational development and coaching skills as NYPL's Learning & Development team manager. In this capacity, Marzena created training initiatives for the Library's 2000+ staff members. Prior to assuming her HR role, she served NYPL's branch and research library systems in reference and training capacities.
Marzena earned both an MLIS and an MA in German Literature and Language with a minor in teaching. She holds coaching, leadership development, and training management certificates. A MBTI and Strengthscope enthusiast, Marzena uses both tools in her coaching practice as a Job Search Central Manager at the Science Industry and Business Library. She has presented at professional conferences here and abroad, and has managed several complex federal and private grants.

During this session you will learn about the fundamentals of a successful job search campaign, including: effective job search planning strategies, marketing yourself, using social networking sites in your job search, making a good impression during the interview, and the importance of follow-up.
We'll go into a discussion of what tools successful job seekers are using, and how they can be applied across all industries, including libraries. LinkedIn membership is currently growing by two people per second, so we will also put special emphasis on why it is smart to spend time perfecting your online profiles.
Prerequisite knowledge/experience: This workshop is suitable for anyone who is in the job search process, or would like to learn about job search fundamentals to teach it to others .
By the end of this program, participants will:
- Understand the components of a job search campaign
- Have developed a personal "elevator speech"
