Full Description

Librarians are often asked to provide citation management training. This workshop will provide training in Zotero, a popular citation management tool, as well as discussion and support on strategies, tips, and practices of teaching Zotero. The session is open to librarians from public, academic, and special libraries.

The first 100 minutes will include a basic introduction to Zotero features and functionality, and is geared toward those who are interested in getting started with Zotero. After a break, we will present  advanced features (e.g., Annotating PDFs, Zotfile, PaperMachines, Zotero Maps, Zotero RTF/ODF Scan, and Mobile Zotero applications) and hold discussion of Zotero training and use in libraries.

Prerequisite knowledge/experience: No prior experience necessary. This workshop is open to librarians from public, academic, and special libraries who are interested in learning how to use the citation manager Zotero and how to integrate Zotero training in their libraries.

By the end of this program, participants will:

  • Be able to install and use Zotero to save and organize citations
  • Know how to add references to Microsoft Office documents
  • Practice a few enhanced Zotero features
  • Identify and troubleshoot common Zotero user issues
  • Be prepared to train users on Zotero at their libraries.
