Eva Grizzard is a Preservation Specialist at the Northeast Document Conservation Center. She conducts preservation needs assessments, presents workshops and webinars, and answers preservation inquiries from institutions and individuals. In her previous position as Assistant Archivist at the Rockefeller Archive Center in Sleepy Hollow, NY, she developed in-depth experience in processing and maintaining a variety of collection materials. Eva earned both an M.S. in Library and Information Science and an Advanced Certificate in Archives and Records Management from the Palmer School at Long Island University.

A disaster plan is an integral component of effective collections stewardship, but preparation of a plan can be daunting. This webinar, building upon Risk Assessment for Emergency Preparedness, introduces the steps involved in creating a disaster plan. The importance of including staff in disaster preparations and training is addressed, as well as recommended supplies, vendors, and equipment. dPlan, an online tool for creating a disaster plan, is introduced, as are various resources to assist in disaster planning, response, and recovery.
 
Who should attend:
Librarians, archivists and anyone responsible for creating a disaster plan for collections in a cultural heritage organization is encouraged to participate.
 
By the end of this program, participants will:
  • Understand the elements of a disaster plan;
  • And be able to identify the people and resources needed to protect their collections in emergency situations.
