METRO & NYPL Present: Software Carpentry Bootcamp

Speaker Cam Macdonell, Greg Wilson, Tim Cerino, & Jason Williams

This two-day event is currently underway and no longer accepting registrants. To learn more about Software Carpentry, visit http://software-carpentry.org/.

Software Carpentry's mission is to help researchers become more productive by teaching them basic lab skills for computing like program design, version control, data management, and task automation. This two-day hands-on bootcamp will cover basic concepts and tools; participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.

Who should attend:
Librarians, curators, and other information professionals; anyone who wants to gain fluency with library data.

Registration considerations:
Each attendee is required to bring a personal laptop with a few specific software packages installed ahead of time in order to participate in this program. For installation and other program details, please visit

This is a two-day session, taking place from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Wednesday and Thursday, August 6th and 7th. Space is limited. Please register only if you will be able to attend the full session on both days.
