Join the Reference SIG with special guests from METRO's Social Media SIG for a discussion on utilizing social media in reference services. We'll have two presentations and ample time for Q & A.
 
Liaisons as “Friends:” Using Social Media to Promote Reference  
Shawn(ta) Smith-Cruz, Reference & Instruction Librarian, and Coordinator of Reference at the Graduate Center (CUNY) will discuss the GC’s use of their liaison relationship-structure to advocate for reference service that supports individual librarian relationships. Shawn will disclose the many facets of the way the GC library uses social media to promote reference service.
 
Building an International Online Community: Social Media at Catalyst
Cheryl Yanek has worked as a librarian for Catalyst’s Information Center since 2006. As a Director in Catalyst’s Information Center, Ms. Yanek is responsible for researching information requests, developing and updating Quick Takes, and writing First Steps. Ms. Yanek has an MLIS in Library and Information Science from Queens College, an MFA from Naropa University, and a BA from SUNY-New Paltz.
