Distance Education & Bibliographic Instruction SIG Meeting

Do you provide library instruction for distance library users, or are you interested in learning more about this topic? Come join our discussion! The Bibliographic Instruction and Distance Education SIGs at METRO will be holding a joint meeting on May 20th at 10AM, in which attendees will discuss challenges, opportunities, new initiatives, and successes in this dynamic area of librarianship. The meeting will include:
  • A review of the state of bibliographic instruction to distance users, by Helen Lane (Fashion Institute of Technology), Linda Miles (Yeshiva University) and Ben Turner (St. John’s University)

  • Making Library Research Real in the Digital Classroom: Embedded Librarianship at Work. Faculty Librarian Lane Glisson and English Professor Kelly Secovnie (Borough of Manhattan Community College, CUNY) share their experiences providing research and writing instruction to English 201 students using the Blackboard CMS.

  • Round table discussion of issues related to library instruction for distance users

  • Input on suggested future topics for Bibliographic Instruction and Distance Education
