John Carey, M.A., M.L.S, is Head Librarian and Assistant Professor at the Hunter Health Professions Library, Hunter College, City University of New York. He has also worked in the library of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Before pursuing librarianship he worked extensively in scientific and academic publishing and currently serves as copyeditor of the Urban Library Journal. His work has appeared in Issues in Science and Technology Librarianship, Library Philosophy and Practice, Slavic and East European Information Resources, and LIBER Quarterly.

 

Dr. Jaroslav Eliah Sýkora is a native of Prague. Having taught at the University of South Bohemia, he came to the US as a post-doctoral Fulbright research fellow in 2002 to carry out research in Midrash Ecclesiates Rabbah at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. In 2010 he graduated from Queens College, CUNY, where he pursued studies in the graduate library and information science program. Currently he works as a designer/illustrator and also teaches children at the Czech School in Astoria. Apart from his scholarly papers, he is the author and editor of three monographs. His passion is poetry and several of his collections have been published.
