METRO & Sci/Tech/Med SIG Present: How to Find Chemical Information from Scifinder and Other Sources for the Non-Specialist

The aim of this workshop is to introduce participants to the basics of searching Scifinder to find information on chemical substances, chemical reactions, patents, and journal references. Participants will also learn to use some free resources that can be used in conjunction with Scifinder. There are no prerequisites.

Who should attend:
Science and medical librarians who have minimal experience in searching the chemical literature will benefit from this workshop.


By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Search Scifinder to find information on chemistry-related topics
  • Search other databases and internet resources to find chemical information
  • Attain some familiarity with the chemical literature
