Elisabeth Doucett is director of the Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick, Maine. She holds an MLS from Simmons College, where she was elected to the Beta Phi Mu Honor Society, and an MBA in marketing from the J. L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She is the author of Creating Your Own Brand (published by the American Library Association in 2008) and What They Don't Teach You in Library School (published by ALA in 2011). Her strategy and marketing proficiencies were developed over more than a decade spent in the consumer packaged goods industry as a marketing director at Quaker Oats and Dunkin' Donuts and as a brand manager at Kraft Foods in the Maxwell House Coffee Division.

The third part of the METRO / ACRL/NY New Professionals Series, this webinar will feature a conversation between Elisabeth Doucett, author of What They Don't Teach You in Library School and director of the Curtis (ME) Public Library, and Ellen Mehling, METRO's Career Development Consultant. Please join us as Liz and Ellen discuss the transition between grad school and the working world, covering issues like career planning, staying on top of trends in the field, thriving in new environments, and what to do in your first management role.
