Kate Flewelling is the Outreach Coordinator at the National Network of Libraries of Medicine-Middle Atlantic Region.  In her position, Kate develops outreach programs to health professionals, with emphasis on services to unaffiliated health professionals, minority health professionals, public health workers, and mental health professionals.

Kate has a BA in history and education from Mount Holyoke College.  She was a middle school teacher and wine seller prior to receiving her MLIS from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  From 2007-2009, Kate was a National Library of Medicine Associate Fellow from  2007-2009. For the second year of her fellowship, Kate was at Inova Fairfax Hospital, a large teaching hospital in Northern Virginia.  Before joining the National Networks of Libraries of Medicine, Kate was Coordinator of Instruction, a Reference Librarian and the liaison to Geriatrics,  Public Health and Emergency Medicine at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY.

Full Description

Designed as an advanced class for experienced MEDLINE searchers, this hands-on class will highlight advanced PubMed techniques that can be used to conduct comprehensive searches.  Attendees are encouraged to contribute past and present difficult searches to discuss with the class.

By the end of this program, attendees will be able to:
- Discuss PubMed applications
- Understand recent changes to PubMed
- Understand and demonstrate advanced searching techniques
