Communicating with Difficult Personalities
Communication skills are very important for staff who provide customer service, be it with the public or colleagues.  When we encounter a difficult personality, it is very important to have the communication skills necessary to make that interaction successful and professional.  This workshop will provide techniques and insights to achieve successful communication interactions.  We will examine the following topics: communicating with difficult behaviours and conflict in a relationship.

Downloading eBooks to Mobile Devices
eBooks are in high demand in libraries all over the place.  They can be tricky to use and frustrating for patrons.  This workshop will help you learn how to borrow, download, and read eBooks on different types of eReaders and tablet computers.

Managing Stress for Work & Life
The pressure of balancing life and work can sometimes lead to stress, and the stress can lead to a decrease of production, as well as be harmful to your health.  In this workshop we will examine two topics that can help us deal with the demands of work and life: relaxation techniques for mind/body wellness and managing stress in the workplace.  Relaxation exercises for mind/body wellness and stress management techniques will be demonstrated and practiced throughout the workshop.  This workshop also looks at stressful situations differently and focuses on what you can control about them.  Practical techniques are provided to help you manage your stress in the workplace.

Using Social Media Tools
This workshop will look at various social media tools including Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube, and discuss best practices to help you create a social media presence that is dynamic, effective, and engages your individual community.

All attendees will also have an opportunity to join the New York State Library Assistant's Association.  Membership is $15.00.
