Trevor A. Dawes is the Circulation Services Director at the Princeton University Library, where he is responsible for several public services operations.  He previously held positions at the Columbia University Libraries in NYC.  He has worked with staff in developing and providing training for library services; has written on RFID technology in libraries; has co-authored a publication on the organization and management of access services; has edited a volume on electronic reserves; and has either planned or presented at various local and national conferences on a variety of topics. Since 2006, Dawes has been an instructor in the MSLIS program at the iSchool at Drexel University.  Dawes earned his MLS from Rutgers University, and has additional Master's Degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University.  He is an active member of the American Library Association, the Association of College and Research Libraries, and the New Jersey Library Association.

Have you thought about being a leader in your organization or professional association?  Do you have the skills necessary for that role?  In this workshop, instructor Trevor Dawes will provide a brief overview of some types of leadership roles one can have within an organization or association and will lead attendees through a series of exercises to help them assess their readiness to assume these roles.  Whether you were "born to lead" or are now developing your leadership style, you will take away some tips that should help you become a more effective leader.
 
Who should attend: 
Any librarian, archivist or information professional interested in assuming a leadership role now or in the near future
           
By the end of this program, participants will:
-       determine the type of leadership role they wish to assume
-       gain an understanding of leadership roles in professional associations
-       create a personal leadership development plan
