by Davis Erin Anderson, Community Engagement Manager, METRO

Congratulations to the ten New York City branch libraries that have been named finalists for the NYC Neighborhood Library Awards!

This is the 2nd year in which the Revson Foundation, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, and the Brian Lehrer Show on WNYC have partnered to highlight one of NYC’s best resources -- our branch libraries.

The finalists are...

In Brooklyn:

  • Windsor Terrace Library
  • Clinton Hill Library
  • New Lots Library

In Manhattan:

  • Jefferson Market Library

In Queens:

  • Cambria Heights Library
  • Sunnyside Library
  • Langston Hughes Library

In Staten Island:

  • Stapleton Library

In the Bronx:

  • Mott Haven Library
  • Parkchester Library

This year, judges sorted through a record-breaking 13,000 nominations from library users across the city.

In the coming months, a panel of judges -- writers Maira Kalman, Jonathan Safran Foer, and Jacqueline Woodson; IMLS director emeritus Susan Hildreth; editor Julie Strauss-Gabel, and Counsel to NYC's Mayor Maya Wiley -- will select five branches to win $20,000. Winners will be announced in May.
