New, User-Friendly Labeling Software To Enhance METRO’s Delivery Service

As a service to our members, METRO coordinates a system of free delivery and pick-up to member libraries, providing essential support that enables these libraries to expand access to their collections and services.

To expedite and simplify the process of generating shipping labels for METRO’s Delivery Service, we are beta testing a new labeling software program in collaboration with our courier vendor, Scheduled Express. The software automates many activities, including generating the home institution as the return address, producing an email notifying METRO that a package is ready for pick-up, and generating an email to the recipient institution indicating when the delivery will arrive.

We expect to formally launch this exciting new service component in January 2009. For more information, contact Robert Schmidt, Special Projects Manager, at: rschmidt@metro.org .
