A seemingly limitless array of technological and digitization resources present abundant opportunities and potential overload for today’s library and research professionals. To help our members keep pace, METRO has recently launched several new services and social networking opportunities.
techMETRO, our new emerging technologies blog, features up-to-the-minute information on how new technologies and digitization opportunities are affecting our libraries. The blog is authored by METRO’s Emerging Technologies Manager, Jason Kucsma.
Along with regular posts, the blog features a calendar of events highlighting conferences, Calls for Papers (CFPs), and other items related to digitization, digital preservation, and emerging technologies in libraries. The blog also links to an ever-growing collection of reviewed and tagged resources on technology in libraries. Check out techMETRO and subscribe today.
As a related service, METRO has also launched digitech, a new monthly series of email updates on events, services, and issues related to digitization and emerging technologies in METRO’s member libraries. Sign up here to receive digitech.
Last but not least, METRO is now on Facebook. Our Facebook page includes a discussion board, a calendar of upcoming events with RSVP options, a live chat feature allowing users to ask questions about METRO’s services, a link to METRO’s Flickr photostream, and more. If you’re already a Facebook member, we invite you to become a METRO “fan.” If you’re new to Facebook, check out the site.
