These never-before-exhibited historical records, which have been digitized by the AJHS, detailed how, in 1858, a group of Jewish organizations and benefactors formed the "Association for the Free Distribution of Matzos to the Poor"? to distribute specially-ordered unleavened bread to more than 600 families on the Lower East Side, ensuring that New Yorkers in need had matzos for Passover.
