American Jewish Historical Society, "Weighing and Delivering of the Matzos or Unleavened Bread,"? from Frank Leslie's Popular Monthly magazine, August 1877.

In April, the City Room blog at The New York Times ran a feature on a recent "rediscovery"? in the American Jewish Historical Society archives.

These never-before-exhibited historical records, which have been digitized by the AJHS, detailed how, in 1858, a group of Jewish organizations and benefactors formed the "Association for the Free Distribution of Matzos to the Poor"? to distribute specially-ordered unleavened bread to more than 600 families on the Lower East Side, ensuring that New Yorkers in need had matzos for Passover.
