METRO DHP Grantee Launches Website on Asian/Pacific/American Archives Survey

As part of the "Documenting the A/P/A Community,"? workshop, Alexandra Chang (Director of Public Programs & Research Manager at the A/P/A Institute), led participants on a tour of the A/P/A Institute's gallery.

In April, METRO sponsored a well-attended workshop on "Documenting the Asian/Pacific/American Community."? Held at the Asian/Pacific/American Institute at NYU, the event provided an overview of the Asian/Pacific/American Documentary Heritage Archives Survey, which has just launched its website on "the hidden collections of New York's forgotten minority."?

The survey—a joint project of the A/P/A Institute and the Tamiment Library (a special collection that documents the struggle for progressive social change)—has been supported by a subcontract with METRO's Documentary Heritage Program. The survey is the first systematic attempt to map available and potential Asian/Pacific/American archival collections in the New York metropolitan area.
