Letter from the Director, November 2012

To METRO Members:

Our community has experienced an unforgettable fortnight. In back-to-back-to-back fashion, we bore witness to a tropical superstorm, a presidential election, and a nor’easter. While our collective infrastructure has obviously been stressed during this time, I’m happy and proud to report that it appears we’ve made it through and the road to recovery looks promising.

As many of our members know firsthand, there remains much work to be done in the way of clean-up and catch-up. To that end, I’d like to call your attention to a few items:

* METRO staff has been contacting members to assess the impact of the storm on their institutions. Many libraries have reported little or no damage, while others have been severely impacted.

* The METRO website provides a variety of disaster recovery resources ranging from informational to sources for recovery financial assistance.

* We're holding our business meeting at the inaugural Directors Round Table tomorrow (November 14). If you haven’t already RSVP’d, please do so by the end of the day today. We’d love to have you.

* Our Annual Meeting, canceled due to Hurricane Sandy, has been rescheduled to January 15. Registrants have been contacted, and we’ll reopen registration in the coming weeks after we see how much space we have available.

Be well and thanks for reading,

Jason Kucsma
