Go Digital in December: Two Workshops at METRO Focus on Digital Collections

In mid-December, METRO welcomes industry experts for two separate programs on managing and sustaining digital collections.

On Wednesday, December 11, 2013, Liz Bishoff of The Bishoff Group and Thomas F. R. Clareson of LYRASIS will present the second session in their Digital Projects: From Start to Finish series. Their Funding and Budgeting for Your Digital Program workshop will cover the variety of financial options available to cultural heritage institutions who wish to build or sustain a digital collection, with emphasis on communicating a business plan to foundations and other sources of grant funding. This event takes place from 10:00 am till 4:00 pm.

On Thursday, December 12, 2013, METRO will be joined by NYU's Moving Image and Archive Program (MIAP) for Managing Locally-Produced Born Digital Audiovisual Content, a review of preservation efforts from New York City-based organizations who provide their services to constituents of all kinds. Speakers at this event include Howard Besser, Director, Moving Image Archiving and Preservation Program; Yvonne Ng, Archivist, WITNESS; Natalie Milbrodt, Director, Queens Memory Project; Brendan Allen, Archivist, Democracy Now!; and Sady Sullivan, Director of Oral History, Brooklyn Historical Society. This workshop is scheduled from 10:00 am through 1:30 pm.
