Find Your Voice, Hone Your Message with Two Workshops on Writing and Marketing

Please join us as we welcome Kathy Dempsey, author of The Accidental Library Marketer and owner of Libraries Are Essential, to METRO on Thursday, December 6. Kathy will present two separate sessions that reflect her deep experience working and writing for and about libraries.

At a mid-morning session, Writing for the Library Press, Kathy will provide insight on the process of publishing in library publications. This talk will focus on the ins and outs of writing in formats from journal and magazine articles to full fledged books. Recommended for those who hope to share their voices in print publications, participants will come away with solid advice from a veteran writer and editor in the field.

Kathy's afternoon session, What Accidental Library Marketers Need to Know, turns to the topic of her 2009 book, The Accidental Library Marketer. Perfect for those of us who are in the position of managing PR and promotional work for libraries and information centers but may be without formal training, this session offers guidance on how to maximize investment while communicating the value of your library. A limited number of copies of The Accidental Library Marketer will be available for sale.

Registration is open now for both of these sessions. We hope to see you there!
