METRO members may be interested the following note from Acting State Librarian and Deputy Commissioner of Cultural Education Jeffrey W. Cannell regarding the Joseph F. Shubert Award
The Regents Advisory Council on Libraries has announced that applications are now available for the 2012 Joseph F. Shubert Library Excellence Award. The Award of $1,000 acknowledges the accomplishments of small, medium and large libraries, as well as library consortia of New York State, by recognizing achievements that improve the quality of library service to their users. The Award was first established as part of the Regents Advisory Council on Libraries 1994-95 centennial observance, and is named after Joseph F. Shubert who served as New York State Librarian from 1977 until 1996. The deadline for application submission is June 15, 2012.
